Following the AGM, the AAA and AA 2011 awards were held.
The 2011 season was a very successful one for the AAA team, reaching the NBCs for the first time in the club’s history.
The winners of the playing awards were:
Outfield Golden Glove – Ken MacKenzie
Infield Golden Glove – Sam Rounce
Silver Slugger – Franklin ‘Chicki’ Martinez
Most Improved – Stuart Harper-Horn
Best Pitcher – Vince Warner
Most Valuable Player – Mike Crabb
The Essex Redbacks II competed for the first time in 2011, playing in the AA South Pool A.
It was a good year for team building and the team gained several great wins during their first season.
The winners of the playing awards were:
Outfield Golden Glove – Adam Commons
Infield Golden Glove – CJ Evans
Silver Slugger – Sam Rounce
Most Improved – Karl ‘Muzza’ Murray
Best Pitcher – Sean Briscomb
Most Valuable Player – Arun Mandalia
There was a club-wide consensus on the senior teams’ Rookie of the Year. With a swing that was positively commented on even in the pictures that looped prior to the AGM, and performances through the year that were consistently impressive for a player his age, the Rookie of the Year award went to Harry Ward.
The final award of the night went to the person who the club thought had gone above and beyond the call of duty. In securing unprecedented media coverage for the club, including two appearances on BBC Essex Radio, and producing over a million opportunities for the Essex Redbacks to be seen via the traditional media alone, the Club Person of the Year went to Michael Jones.
