Forest Glade and Essex Redbacks Youth Presentation and bowling evening

Following the club AGM and adult awards nights the previous evening, the youth section of the Essex Redbacks had their 2nd annual awards and bowling evening.

The evening started with the youth club members enjoying a game of bowling and basket meal.

Once completed the awards took place. Club secretary and Head Youth Coach, Sean Briscomb welcomed all the players and parents and thanked everyone for their hard work throughout the season – in particular to the parents for their support at training and the games throughout the season.

Sean then handed over to Coach Jamie Cairns to present the 2011 pennant to the Teeball section.

Richard Crabb, Bronco Team manager then presented the 2011 Forest Glade Bronco players with their pennants. This season has been a successful one for the Bronco team who reached the Youth National Baseball Championships. Richard presented the Bronco players who played at the YNBC’s with a medal to celebrate their great performances.

Richard then handed over to Graham Meikle, the Pony team manager to present the Pony players with their 2011 pennant. As is now tradition at the Essex Redbacks, the players moving from the Pony team to the adult section next season were presented with a photo montage of themselves from the past season. The youth coaches wish Amy, Shane, Michael and Harry success with the adult teams next season.

Following the presentation of the pennants, medals and photos, there was one final award to be presented. This was the Jack Petchey Achievement Award for September to November 2011. This award is voted for by the youth players at the club and this went to Conner – a very deserving winner for his excellent performances on the field, his great attitude at training, helping new players at the club and welcoming the Marl Sly Dogs when they visited the Redbacks earlier in the year. In addition to winning the Jack Petchey award, Conner also had some excellent news earlier in the day as he has been selected for the GB Cadet squad.

The youth coaches would like to pass on their congratulations to Conner and Jamie, Rory and older brother Liam who have all been selected for the GB squads.

The evening finished with a raffle to raise funds for the club and Sean Briscomb once again thanking all the parents, players and coaches for their hard work this season.
