Forest Glade Redbacks Bronco’s (U14)

Formed in 2010 the FG Redbacks (Forest Glade Redbacks) are the team representing Essex Redbacks Baseball at under 14 level. The FG Redbacks play in the British Baseball Federation (BBF) Southern Bronco League, and consist of players of all abilities between the ages 10-13 years. 2011 saw the FG Redbacks reaching the British Baseball National Championships (Final 4) an excellent achievement in only their second year.

BBF league games interspersed with occasional tournaments are held on Saturday afternoons from the end of April till the end of July. Post season games including the National Championships are held during September. All home games are played at the Redbacks Youth Academy at Forest Glade FC. Billericay Essex, with away games played within or just outside the M25 area.

Training during the season (April till September) is on Wednesday evenings from 6pm till 7.30pm and we welcome both boys and girls whether a first time rookie or an experienced youth player to come along, have fun, learn the game and play for the FG Redbacks. Indoor Winter & Spring training (October to March) is also available and held at James Hornsby School, Laindon, Basildon on Saturday afternoons every two to three weeks (see calendar for dates).

All equipment is supplied, but we encourage our players to purchase their own baseball glove and baseball pants after the first 3 sessions. We advise that any boy or girl coming to their first baseball session should wear and bring with them the following:

A Cap
Suitable Trainers/boots – these can be football boots/blades or molded (not metal studs)
Tracksuit bottoms and or Sweatshirt/jacket (dependent on weather)
Drink
Sunscreen if sunny

The Youth Academy coaching team believes that having fun is key to enjoyment of the game, so training sessions are designed not only to inform and improve players understanding and technique but to have a lot of fun learning along the way. All children within the Bronco age range will have the opportunity to play for the team during the season.

Forest Glade Redbacks are fortunate to play and train on the only purpose built U14 baseball diamond with pitchers mound in the South East and East Anglia. Built during the spring of 2010 the building of the Bronco diamond was the culmination of several months of planning and construction by the coaches, players and parents of the Essex Redbacks and the support and partnership of Forest Glade Youth FC.
