All our youth coaches hold nationally recognised baseball coaching qualifications and are CRB checked on an annual basis.
Essex Redbacks Youth Academy has access to the largest number of qualified baseball coaches, in the UK.
Sean Briscomb
Coaching Qualifications: Level 2 certified
Experience: Player for over 16 years in BBF leagues Head Youth Coach for over 3 years Managed Pony Team in 2007 and 2008 Qualified ABUA-GB Umpire

Personal information:Sean started playing baseball after watching an exhibition game held at the Oval cricket ground in 1993 between minor league players of the New York Mets and Boston Red Sox. As a player his favoured positions are catcher, pitcher and 3rd base. Sean’s favourite player of all time is Cal Ripken Jr both for his “Iron Man” performances and records on the field and for his work off the field especially in promoting youth baseball around the world.
Jonathon Crabb
Coaching Qualifications: Level 1 certified
Experience: Youth Player for over 5 years in BBF youth leagues, now playing for Essex Redbacks adult team.
Qualified ABUA-GB Umpire
MLB Team supported: San Francisco Giants
Personal information: Joined the coaching staff in 2010 after playing at Bronco and Pony levels within the BBF leagues. Has a great knowledge of the rules of baseball. Playing position was lead off batter and catcher.
Richard Crabb
Coaching Qualifications: Level 2 certified
Experience: Player for over 4 years in BBF leagues
Managed Bronco Team that reached the BBF Final 4 in 2008
Managed Pony team in 2009 & Bronco team in 2010

Personal information:Both Richard’s sons play at the Redbacks with his eldest son Jon coaching youth baseball at the club and his youngest son playing at Pony level. Richard got involved in baseball through Jon wanting to play baseball after watching a Blue Jays game in Toronto back in 2000. Managing Forest Glade Redbacks (U13) for 2011 season.
Neil Hall
Coaching Qualifications: Level 2 certified
Experience: Neil started playing competitive baseball in 2000 as a 1st baseman and right fielder, Neil is now retired due to long term injury. Neil was the batting and base coach and supported Bronco Teams in 2007, 2008 and 2009. He will be part of the coaching team for Ponies this year.
MLB Team supported: Florida Marlins
Personal information: He became interested in baseball in the early 90’s. Both his son and daughter are youth players and he keen to give both girls and boys the opportunity to have fun and learn a sport that he loved to play.
Bill Sedgwick
Coaching Qualifications: Level 2 certified
Experience:Bill has coached youth football teams Trinity United and Billericay Town Colts for many years and has recently moved over to baseball initially supporting his son at Bronco level and now Pony.

Personal information: Got involved in baseball after visiting the old Yankee stadium on a family holiday, my youngest son wanted to try the game and we were lucky to find a club nearby, my involvement has grown from there.
Graham Meikle
Coaching Qualifications: Level 2 certified
Experience:Graham is a proven effective and versatile coach, for 2011 Graham will be managing the Essex Redbacks Pony league team.

Personal information: Graham first developed an interest in baseball watching his 3 sons playing Little League when they lived in America and the entire family has enjoyed the opportunity of carrying on playing here in Essex. They all remain avid NY Yankees fans.
Blake Taylor
Coaching Qualifications: Level 2 certified
Experience: Blake is currently working through his Level 3 coaching qualification. Blake also helps coach at the BBF National Academy

Experience: Coached over seven years in California, USA. Has coached in 3 Little League Teams, 4 Pony League Teams and 2 Travel Baseball Clubs.

Personal information: Started Coaching baseball to help my son and other kids learn the proper way to play the game. I believe that learning the fundimentals of baseball is most important. My favorite defensive player is JT Snow, my favorite offensive player is Barry Bonds, my favorite new player is Buster Posey.
